What do you want to be when you "grow up"? It is never too late to make a change - subtle or drastic. Be bold! Each day is a new chance to reinvent yourself. Never lose sight of the dreams that propel you, or the value of happiness in your life.
What can hockey teach us about facing our fears? In the words of NHL legend Wayne Gretsky, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." With 2023 now well underway, what shots haven't you taken yet, and why? What shots will you take in the months ahead to lift the proverbial trophy? And how will you celebrate finally accomplishing your objectives?
What can water teach us about the art of adaptability? According to Bruce Lee, quite a lot! In one of his most famous quotes, the martial arts legend said, "Be Water, My Friend. Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend."
Albert Einstein once said, "If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or objects." Wise words from a wise man. What is your number one life goal going to be for 2023? What can you do--starting today--to make that goal a reality?
As Vince Lombardi once remarked, "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence." Where can you step it up in 2023? What can you do to ensure that your commitment to excellence is proportional to the level of excellence you want to achieve?
What kind of year do you want in 2023? And what are you willing to do to achieve that? Nothing comes easy, not even for the great ones. As Michael Jordan once said, "All I knew is that I never wanted to be average." Be ready to put in the work!
All of life is a mirror, and an opportunity to see ourselves more objectively, as well as to see beyond our own worlds. As you evaluate 2022 and conceive 2023, think about who can help you see yourself most clearly - and who you can be a mirror for as well.
We come into life with a specific purpose. Do you know yours? It's OK if you don't. A Life Vision changes over time, naturally, as we evolve. The goal is to get clearer and clearer through the years, and ensure that everything you do is in alignment with your Higher Purpose.
What has been holding you back from achieving your full potential? How can 2023 be different? What key have you not (self) discovered, or have in hand but not yet gained the strength or courage to use? Meditate on that, and put your conclusions to the test in the year ahead.
With your dreams as guidance and inspiration (Step 22), it is now time to get specific. Make each grain count. Step 2’s Ideal Week challenge is a good starting point to work with when envisioning a full year ahead.
